HAS FERRARI BEEN LYING ABOUT ITS PRODUCTION NUMBERS...?
  • A recent report raises questions over Ferrari's production numbers
  • Some of the alleged disrepancies are large
  • Is there more to this story?

A recent industry report has alleged that Ferrari haa not been fully truthful over the production numbers for some its supercars, including its ultra-rare limited models like the LaFerrari. Such allegations reignite a long-running theory into how limited the Italian marque's models really are.

NOT SO LIMITED The report makes some striking claims including: - 879 599 GTOs were made, not 599 - 561 Scuderia Spider 16Ms were made, not 499 - 628 458 Speciale Apertas were made, not 499 - 807 F12tdfs were made, not 799 - 593 LaFerrari coupés were made, not 499 - 438 Enzos were made, not 400

Such striking claims naturally bring up questions to ask Ferrari. Exclusive Car Registry also claims the "real number" of LaFerrari coupés is "closer to 700".

POSSIBLE EXPLANTIONS If true, there may be some valid explanations for these inconsistencies. Ferrari has openly admitted producing extra one-off supercars before, like a bonus 600th Daytona SP3, which sold for $26 million in a charity auction. Other supercars including the Pope's final Enzo have also been involved in this.

The existence of prototypes may be an excuse too. Ferrari produces numerous prototypes of each model before putting it into production. Often, many of these are sold to collectors.

MISLEADING? There is reason to believe that more examples of certain Ferraris exist than their advertised production runs might initially suggest. However, that is not the same as proving Ferrari secretly manufactured and sold hundreds of additional limited-edition cars.

Without comprehensive factory records or independently verified chassis lists, the exact figures circulating online remain unsubstantiated. We also must clarify that this is all speculation and allegations.

We have written to Ferrari to ask for clarification.
