Lamborghini's Paolo Racchetti, the director of the Temerario, recently stated that the Italian brand does not think raw speed is enough for the brand to survive now.

He claimed that "speed is still an important part of importance", however increasingly it is becoming "not sufficient", while remaining merely "necessary". Racchetti continued with that it is now increasingly more important to focus on "dynamic capabilities" instead, and that "the level of performance will be less relevant in the future".
Lamborghini believes that a supercar must offer more than just speed and acceleration, and that clients value emotion as incredibly value today - he stated that "only mechanics" can offer this. As part of the brand's increase drive towards hybrid technology, the marque is "emphasising performance, drivability and emotion" - something which is in "our DNA".

Furthermore, Racchetti was keen to stress the importance of computing as well. "We have a brain inside the car that is the controller" which helps to control all aspects of the supercar like the transmission, electric motors, and braking systems. He chose to conclude his comments with a telling statement: "the most important thing is that we can emphasise emotion."
The recent remarks come as Lamborghini recently chose to pull the plug on development of the Lanzador, the brand's first fully electric supercar. As competition heatens, increased by the rise in Chinese cars, the world's supercar manufacturers face an increasingly fierce battle.
