Ferrari has taken the wraps off the 296 GT Modificata, a track-only machine that takes the foundation of the 296 GT3 Evo and removes the restrictions imposed by racing regulations.
NO RULES, MORE POWER Its 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 produces 720hp, considerably more than the regulation-limited GT3 racer. Ferrari says the result is enoigh to make the Modificata roughly three seconds quicker around Fiorano than the 296 GT3 Evo.
The bodywork is equally serious, with a huge fixed rear wing, deep front spilitter, vented arches and enlarged cooling intakes. It is not road lehal and it is not designed to compete in a conventional race series either - instead, it will be driven by selected customers at Ferrari's elite Club Competizioni GT events.
The Modifcata's purpose is clear: give customers something with the feel and performance of a modern GT racer, without the rulebook holding it back.
