2017-2023

The 720S replaced the 650S as McLaren's core Super Series model and introduced the lightweight Monocage II carbon-fiber structure, advanced active aerodynamic and Proactive Chassis Control II. Its combination for of low weight and a powerful engine gave it performance that challenged many contemporary hypercars, and later formed the basis for the more extreme 765LT. The 720S was offered as either a coupé or Spider with both varints identical in terms of performance.

The 720S GT3 is McLaren's original racing version of the 720S, developed specifically for international GT3 racing and first raced by customer teams in 2019. Depsite sharing the road car's carbon-fiber MonoCage II architecture, it features heavily revised aerodynamics, suspension, bodywork, and a six-speed sequential race gearbox.
