2017-2023
The 720S replaced the 650S as McLaren's core Super Series model and introduced the lightweight Monocage II carbon-fiber structure, advanced active aerodynamic and Proactive Chassis Control II. Its combination for of low weight and a powerful engine gave it performance that challenged many contemporary hypercars, and later formed the basis for the more extreme 765LT. The 720S was offered as either a coupé or Spider with both varints identical in terms of performance.

Depsite sharing the road car's carbon-fiber MonoCage II architecture, it features heavily revised aerodynamics, suspension, bodywork, and a six-speed sequential race gearbox.
