The Murciélago was Lamborghini's first new flagship supercar developed under Audi ownership and the replacement for the long-running Diablo. Its cleaner styling retained signature Lamborghini features such as scissor doors while introducing active cooling intakes and a considerably more usable cabin. It became the foundation of Lamborghini's V12 range throughout the 2000s. It was also offered as a Roadster.

Murciélago LP 640
The LP 640 was the major mid-life evolution of the Murciélago, giviing Lamborghini's flagship a sharper appearance and noticeably more modern character. Changes included redesigned front and rear bodywork, a distintive single central exhaust outlet, revised lights, and an updated interior. It also introduced Lamborghini's now-familiar "LP" naming convention, referring to the longitudinally mounted rear engine. It was also offered as a Roadster.

Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce
The SuperVeloce was created as the most extreme road-going evolution of the Murciélago and revived the historic SV name for the first time since the Diablo. Extensive use of carbon fiber, a stripped-back cabin and revised aerodynamics made it around 100kg lighter than the LP 640, giving it a much more focused character.
