The CCX was Koenigsegg's first supercar designed from the outset for worldwide homologation, particularly through entry into the U.S. market. Although it retained the distinct proportions and removable roof of the earlier CCR, it was effectively a new generation supercar with a larger chassis, newly developed engine and extensive changes to meet international safety and emission standards.

CCX R
The CCXR was Koenigsegg's environmentally focused evolution of the CCX and one of the earliest supercars designed to exploit renewable fuel for increased performance. Its flex-fuel system allowed it to run on petrol, E85 ethanol, or mixtures of the two, giving it more power. Koenigsegg marketed it as the world's first "green supercar".

CCX Edition
The CCX Edition was a much rarer and more track-focused developmenrr of the standard CCX, unveiled alongside the CCXR Edition at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. It received a visible-carbon body, unique aero package, lowered and retuned suspension, special 11-spoke wheels and numerous bespoke interior details. Very few photos of the two examples exist.

The CCXR Edition combined the flex-fuel CCXR with the more aggressive chassis and aerodynamic treatment developed for Koenigsegg's Edition models. It featured an exposed carbon-fiber body, unique 11-spoke wheels, a lowered and track-tuned suspension setup, and distinctive aerodynamic additions including a large rear wing and side winglets.

The CCXR Special Edition was created as the final and most developed version of the CCXR before Koenigsegg moved to the Agera generation. It featured exposed carbon-fiber bodywork, a distinctive double-element F1-style rear wing, a large front splitter, wheel-arch vents and an updated interior.

CCX R Trevita
The CCXR Trevita is one of the rarest Koenigsegg's ever made, created around the company's experimental Diamond Weave carbon-fiber technology. Rather than the usual black exposed carbon, Koenigsegg developed a special coating that gave the body a sparkling silvery-white appearance, making the Trevita very recognisable. It also received a unique double carbon rear wng and several bespoke details.
