THIS IS THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE LAMBORGHINI
  • A one-off Lamborghini created for the company’s 50th anniversary
  • Powered by a 600hp V10 engine
  • Radical single-seat design inspired by a fighter jet

A BIRTHDAY PRESENT LIKE NO OTHER In 2013, Lamborghini celebrated its 50th anniversary in typically dramatic fashion. Rather than simply looking back at its history, the Italian manufacturer unveiled one of its most extreme creations ever: the Lamborghini Egoista. Designed under the direction of renowned designer Walter de Silva, the Egoista was created as a one-off concept rather than a production car. Volkswagen Group described it as a 600 PS V10-powered supercar made for just one person. Even its name gives away its unusual philosophy.

“Egoista” is Italian for “selfish”, reflecting the fact that the car has only one seat. There is no room for a passenger; the entire machine is focused on the person behind the wheel.

FIGHTER JET INSPIRATION The Egoista looks less like a conventional road car and more like something designed for a science-fiction film. Its body is filled with sharp angles, dramatic aerodynamic surfaces and an aggressive, futuristic shape.

One of its most noticeable features is its central cockpit. Rather than placing the driver on one side of the car, Lamborghini positioned them in the middle, beneath a canopy-like structure. This gives the Egoista the appearance of a fighter aircraft and separates it immediately from almost every other Lamborghini.

The military-inspired theme continues throughout the exterior, with its narrow lights, angular bodywork and cockpit-focused proportions. Despite its unusual appearance, the Egoista still contains many of the sharp shapes and dramatic lines associated with Lamborghini design.

ONE SEAT Inside, the Egoista takes minimalism to an extreme. There is no passenger seat, no spacious cabin and little attempt to make the car practical. Everything is centred around the driver.

That single-seat arrangement is what makes the Egoista so unusual. Most supercars still need to balance performance with at least some everyday usability. The Egoista ignores that idea almost completely. It was created as an expression of design and individuality rather than as a vehicle intended for everyday journeys.

This approach also explains the name perfectly. The Egoista does not pretend to be practical or accommodating. It is deliberately centred around one person and one experience.
